SWMGF started up back on April 6th 2003 after meeting up with Dave  Clelland of CSMGF at the Annual MGCC weekend at Silverstone in 2002, Dave and i was both of the same thinking that nothing much was happening for MGF's in our areas, so we thought we would have a go ourselves, The F Register at that time was not as active around the UK as it is today, Dave and i where both recruited onto the F Register Committee shortly after our Silverstone meeting and would like to think we played a small part in getting F Register where it is today, Dave and i are no longer on the Committee but remain as Area Reps for the Register and im'e so pleased to see more F Reps running events around the country today.

Dave C started his CSMGF almost straight away on his return from our Silverstone meeting, it was a big hit straight from the start, i started up a little later when i saw how well Dave was doing, i plucked up the courage to start a thread on the MG Enthusiast site MGF bbs asking if anyone fancied meeting up for a chat and perhaps a drive around the area, i said i would be at a particular pub in Chepstow at 10am on April 6th, my son Mark who at that time had an MG Metro came with me for support as i was a bit nervous, i need not have worried because upon my arrival into the car park there was already 4 F's there, 15 minutes later another 5 turned up, by the time we did our hello's & welcomes to everyone we decided to go for a run around the forest of Dean area taking in Tintern Abbey on our way, later we returned to same pub car park where we had something to eat and drink,we were by then discussing our next meeting which turned out to be just a few weeks later.

As they say the rest is History, we have had many runs and meetings since then going from 3 or 4 of us and up to 20 or more cars on more than one occasion ,with the odd Zed or two tagging along, all i can say is it has been great, and one of the best things i have ever done, i have made many friends through SWMGF  and hope to make many more new ones, you may well be nervous coming on your first meet up,all i can say is don't be, MG enthusiasts are a friendly bunch, So Come and Join Us Now , once you have you will wish you did long before like i did .
